Introduction

The Joiner Marriage Index is the fruit of more than thirty years of research by Paul Joiner. Originally covering the counties of Durham and North Yorkshire, the database has spread to cover much of the North of England. Marriage records for other counties around England are currently being prepared to be added to the online resource.

For some years now manual offline searches have been offered for this database of just over 1,600,000 marriages from the early 1500's to 1837. This site represents the first opportunity to search the database yourself, and currently offers just over 1,000,000 marriage records.

So why use this index?

Quite simply no other online marriage index of this size offers such accessible results so easily.

1) A quick search will reveal the number of relevant records in the database.
2) Pay for the full search results using PayPal. Prices start at £2.50 for the first 10 records. You can refine your search until you are happy with both the number of records and price.
3) The full results are then displayed on screen and sent to your email in tab delimited format. An account is also set up using your PayPal email address as the username with a random password to allow you to reaccess the results any time for at least 28 days.
